Remembering Moments of Holidays Past

Holiday Movie Memories (SENIOR VOICES) 120315As we move in to the holiday season our senses become engaged as we encounter smells, tastes, and sounds that can instantly bring us back to memories of holidays past.   Movies are an example of how some people are able to relate back to past holiday moments. Read more about this in an article titled Seniors’ Holiday Movie Memories.  A fun idea could be to design a menu or just dessert around a meal or theme in one of the movies.

This holiday season challenge yourself to reach out to the seniors in your community and determine how you can enhance the dining experience to give those opportunities for them to reminisce on times of enjoyment and comfort.  Take time to ask if there are specific foods, smells, or table decorations that would bring them right back to holidays around the kitchen table in their family home and the warm memories surrounding that time in their life.
